Unfortunately, that is not simple to handle; we need to change the logic of the upsell to handle it, and it needs some work. If you prefer, I can give a quote. Either way, you can also try some other approaches that I mentioned, like enabling the pop-up notification for the cart, or you can try to use our other product block, called Frequently Bought Together.
